Don Pedro Island
Special TWERC Event
A Day at the Beach on San Pedro Island
Wednesday, March 28th
All TW residents are invited to attend the TWERC-sponsored “A Day at Don Pedro Island.” We will go by boat (Gasparilla Boat Tours) to Don Pedro Island for the all-day period (9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) or the half-day (1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.). The price for the boat ride is twenty-five dollars ($25.00) per person for either time slot. Passengers may bring a small personal cooler (nothing huge) and a beach chair. Passengers are transported eighteen (18) at a time from Don Pedro State Park on Placida Road, Placida. We will meet at Don Pedro State Park (carpool) for the boarding of the boat. The ride across the Intracoastal Waterway to Don Pedro Island takes about 15-20 minutes. You will possibly see nesting Osprey and dolphins swimming during the boat ride.
There is a large covered Pavilion about a three-minute walk from the boat arrival dock at Don Pedro Island. The Pavilion contains fourteen (14) picnic tables and there is a bathhouse with restrooms, a drinking fountain, and a beach rinsing station. Adjacent to the Pavilion is a beautiful beach and the ocean waterline is 45 small paces from the Pavilion. We have been told that shelling and shark tooth hunting are popular activities at Don Pedro Island beach. We encourage any Tangerine Woods residents or renters who want to go to the beach together to attend.
The boat trips to return to Don Pedro State Park will begin at 4:00 p.m.
