Brief History
The 114 acres of land for Tangerine Woods (TW), nestled in the southwestern end of Sarasota County, were purchased on January 14, 1983. On April 12, 1984, the beautiful 8,300 square foot clubhouse was dedicated. This complex with adjoining facilities, pool, tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, bocce court, horseshoe pit, and exercise room, remains the center of activities.

The first semblance of organization on the part of the "homeowners" began in November of 1983. Tangerine Woods' day-to-day operations are handled by a Community Association Manager. The Association office is located in the clubhouse, and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm. The TW Owners Association, Inc. has a seven-member elected Board of Directors which operates as a Florida condominium by Florida Statute 718. There are many standing committees that assist the Board of Directors. TW has a very active Recreation Club Committee, known as TWERC, with its own set of officers. Activities are available during the daytime hours and most evenings.

Each Saturday morning, TWERC holds its weekly coffee hour with most residents in attendance. Floor speakers make announcements about upcoming dinner dances, social events, and sport competition results.

There is an atmosphere about TW that is unique. Volunteers are numerous, skilled, and they create much enthusiasm in the community. Also very important is a group of volunteers who call themselves Lazy Daze & Lazy Daizies. They are energetic, hard-working residents who employ their many talents to ensure that the community is always looking beautiful.

A separate area on the grounds is available to all residents for the storage of RV's, boats and trailers.
The Englewood area is vibrant with libraries, service clubs, an art center, and a playhouse for cultural interests.
Dining options in Englewood are broad, from grab-on-the-go fast food, to elegant multi-course "beaucoup bucks" gourmet meals. There is something for everyone here.

Tangerine Woods is a positive place that defies aging, where young and old shake hands and close a circle, making life meaningful for all. We call this place paradise.
